Our Story

Years ago I began carefully considering not only what I put in my body but also what I put on my skin. Along with adopting a healthier diet by incorporating more natural food choices my quest for natural skin products became of particular importance. As I became more and more dedicated to living a healthier lifestyle I discovered essential oils and all their fascinating therapeutic possibilities. Along with having lovely fragrances I learned about specific essential oils that were particularly suited for skin care. When purchasing natural skin care products I would find these essential oils included on the ingredients labels and my curiosity was peaked!

I found an accredited career school locally that offered a one year Certificate in Aromatherapy program and enrolled immediately. Upon successful completion I had thoroughly studied 40 of the most common essential oils and several fixed oils as well. As an Aromatherapist I continued to examine as many essential oils as possible and in no time at all I had a collection of well over 80 oils and several diffusers with which I enjoyed them. The more I studied the more I learned which ones would provide an emotional effect and which were best for skin ailments and which would best support traditional medicine when appropriate. Making massage blends with the appropriate oils for use as analgesics, inhalers for bothersome sinus aliments and emulsions as the carriers for the essential oils were all creations I began working with on a regular basis.

More and more of my time was spent blending the oils for the sake of perfumery due to my ‘obsession’ with fragrance. One particular day when creating a ‘room perfume’ I mistakenly grabbed the wrong oil for my blend. By the time I figured out what I had done and was stressing about all the oils I had wasted due to this error a puff of fragrance from my blend reached my nose and what a wonderful fragrance it was! So I named this ‘essential oil composition’ “Twist of Fate” it was-is such an inviting fragrance, it was ‘harmonious’ and that began my new understanding of fragrance in that each fragrant blend has it’s own harmony much like a song. That was the beginning of Fragrant Harmony.

I had been purchasing natural soaps from a local soap maker and loved the product! We eventually became friends and discussing essential oils and blends that would serve well in soap. One day she broke the news to me that she was moving away and had no plans to continue making soap. She sensed the panic in my voice when she said no more soap and the kind person that she is told me to relax, she would teach me how to make my own soap!!! To this day I would have to say that my friend Kris gave me one of the best gifts I have ever received in teaching me how to make soap.
